John Walker and his wife Sonja were facing this winter without heat. Their old heat pump had given out. They needed assistance. John is a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army.

Sonja mentioned their plight at the House of Prayer in Blairsville and that got the ball rolling.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1101, American Legion Post 121, Disabled American Veterans: Woodrow Wilson Chapter 11, and Warriors Veteran Outreach in Murphy, North Carolina joined together to raise the funds for a new heating system.

James Thomas Heating and Cooling, 48 Boardtown Road, Blue Ridge, Georgia, phone 706.632.1241, offered their services and equipment at a reduced cost and a work order was submitted.

The new heating and cooling system was installed Thanksgiving week.

The Walter's are extremely grateful and thankful for the support they received from the veteran service organizations and James Thomas.

WVO has acquired its new home…officially it's 46 Valley River Avenue…below the Daily Grind in downtown Murphy. It’s a great location. We would like to thank the owners for their cooperation in assisting WVO. We are excited to have a new “home.”

The old now the new…at our first meeting in our new home!
